Simulations and Simulators

Simulations are based on active learning – we learn best when we get to try, experiment, make mistakes and reflect on the consequences of our choices. Simulations place participants in tailored scenarios that would be difficult or impossible to practise in real life.

Strengths:

Allows participants to test without risk – ideal for safety-critical or complex decisions

Builds confidence and decision-making ability

Enhances learning by helping participants understand the consequences of their actions

Things to consider:

🔍 The simulation must be designed to strengthen decision-making – not just test reaction speed

🔍 Make sure participants receive enough feedback to improve their skills and reflect on outcomes

The example shows one of our driving simulators.
